We also talk with Adebayo Clement- Akomolafe (Bayo), about his work as a Western trained psychotherapist and his experience reconnecting with some of his cultural roots. Bayo was raised being forbidden to speak his orioginal language, and, thus, felt removed from his ancestors adn their wisdom. This led him to seek out shamanic teachers in Nigeria, his homeland. He found that the wisdom and perspectives of his ancestors, as carried through those shaman, informed his work with people experiencing mental illness.
