Deep Water Drilling Ban Lifted in Gulf Coast

Today, the Obama Administration lifted a ban on deep water oil drilling that has been in place since the gulf spill began in April. The ban was originally intended to stay in effect until late next month, but the administration has been under intense pressure to lift the ban from gulf business and politicians.

Many critics have called the lifting of the ban misguided and dangerous. That is the position of Public Citizen, a national non-profit consumer advocacy group based in Washington D.C.
