On Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Joseph Gallivan interviews artist Sarah Horowitz about her show Blue, which is at Froelick Gallery though May 29. Horowitz talks about producing ink drawings and etchings of ponderosa pines and seed heads, her art book and print making methods, and what it’s like being a former Portlander living in the alpine splendor of Leavenworth, Washington. Horowitz will be available in person, by appointment, at Froelick Gallery from April 29 to May 1, 2021.
FROM THE PRESS RELEASE
Sarah Horowitz lives at the base of the eastern Cascade Mountains in Leavenworth, Washington. Previously she was in Portland Oregon for fourteen years where she was member of Atelier Mars printmaking workshop and taught printmaking at Portland State University. In addition to prints and drawings, Horowitz produces hand printed and bound artist's books under her imprint Wiesedruck. Horowitz recently attended residencies at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation in Upperville, Virginia and at ArtBellwald in Bellwald, Switzerland. She has received grants from Portland State University and the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Oregon. Her prints and drawings are represented by Froelick Gallery in Portland, Oregon and her books by Kenneth Shure (Gehenna Press/Two Ponds Press).
Horowitz' books and prints are in public and private collections throughout the world, including the Library of Congress, Portland Art Museum, Stanford University Green Library, New York Public Library, Wesleyan University, and Yale University Bienecke Library.
