Please join us on Prison Pipeline on Monday, June 21st as we speak with Ebony Morgan, the Program Coordinator of Cahoots Mobile Street Response in Eugene, Oregon. Cahoots is a Mobile Crisis Response Team that receives calls diverted from emergency services. Cahoots works with people in crisis from mental health issues, substance abuse, and houselessness. The role of Cahoots is to de-escalate crisis situations and provide trauma-informed, client-centered care. Cahoots has been in operation in Eugene for more than 30 years. In spite of the success of Cahoots it is underfunded and can't pay workers a liveable wage. We talk with Ebony Morgan about the need for more stable funding for this successful program which has become a national model for programs that supplement community safety service plans.
Prison Pipeline is a radio program dedicated to educating the public about the Oregon criminal justice system. Our goal is to present a unique understanding of the criminal justice system, address the root causes of crime, and challenge the status quo. We seek to promote awareness and activism in order to foster a safe, healthy, and just society. Tune in every Monday at 6:30 P.M. to hear our hosts Karen James, Adam Carpinelli, Emma Lugo, and Doug McVay explore the Oregon justice system with a variety of guests.
