Self Help Radio was two different shows this week. The first explored songs about what artists thought were the saddest things: saddest songs, saddest stories, even saddest snacks.
During that section, we talked to a columnist who writes about the saddest things he sees; a composer who writes the saddest music ever made; the saddest clown in Portland; & a healer who attempts to heal the saddest people in the world.
The last third of the show (or so) contains songs submitted by listeners who each say their song is the saddest they've ever heard. Sadly, there were more requests than time to play them - but it was fascinating to hear what people found the saddest.
A late caller said that the show itself wasn't all that sad, but perhaps no trigger warning is necessary. Still - this may be the saddest Self Help Radio gets!
