The nuclear power lobby

After the accident at the Three Mile Island nuclear reactor in 1979, it looked like the nuclear industry’s halcyon days were over. The Chernobyl and Fukishima disasters drove home even more starkly just how dangerous nuclear power is. But in recent years there has been a growing drumbeat promoting nuclear power as a green carbon neutral energy source. Yet despite the hype nuclear power plants are still dangerous, dirty and very expensive to build.

On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Cathryn Chudy, with the Oregon Conservancy Foundation, about how to counter this latest drive to restart the nuclear power engine.
