For the small amount of research done for today's show, the host of Self Help Radio discoverd that 1 in 8 Americans live in apartments. He also found out that there were no apartments in the United States for its first one hundred years. & he read a lot more but he's forgotten a lot of it because he likes to eat when he reads & then likes to doze a bit after he eats.
But Gary (the host) grew up living in apartments & felt there should be a show about them. So there are lots of apartment songs, some comedic bits about apartments, & interviews with different folks: an activist who believes the housing crisis can be solved with apartments, a fellow who lives in an apartment complex in a tiny town, & an apartment complex manager. Plus, since there was a lack of idioms using the word "apartment," we just made some up!
You're allowed to listen to this in any type of residence or in a car, etc. But the show has been optimized for apartment listening.
A note about the image above: they are actual apartments Gary lived in as a boy in Garland, Texas, although they are recent photos taken from Google Maps.
