"That Vegan Show" interviews Hannah and Rachel of The Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) and learns of their conscientious and far-reaching activism. Hannah Thompson-Garner is NARN’s Director of Advocacy and Mission Advancement, previously serving on NARN’s Board of Directors. While working towards her law degree, Hannah studied wildlife trafficking around the world. Prior to working with NARN, she worked for and volunteered at a number of other animal-related non-profits. Rachel Bjork is a longtime Animal Advocate and the current Board President of NARN. She has been active with NARN since 2000. Rachel strongly identifies with NARN’s mission of networking with other organizations. She has a particular personal focus on ending animal vivisection.
The Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) advocates for the rights of all sentient beings—the right to choose, to be free from oppression and exploitation—by pursuing campaigns, facilitating education, and connecting Pacific Northwest organizations.
Their efforts include outreach, demonstrations, litigation, and educational events. They also advocate that veganism is the best and most consistent way to respect the lives of animals; by rejecting the support of products and companies that deny them their inherent rights to live a life of freedom and fulfillment of their interests, it is the living practice of animal rights. NARN holds these values as the core of operating as an organization: Compassion and Respect, Nonviolence, Education, Community, and Action.
