Today on The Songcircle, we're celebrating Bob Dylan's 83rd birthday with a long-gestating follow-up to our popular 2022 episode featuring Black artists saluting Bob's songs. All the material on today's show comes from Bob's groundbreaking work of the 1960s, though the covers themselves date from then up to just last year. Great artists like Jimi Hendrix (not the song you might be thinking of), Bobby Womack (doing that song), The Staple Singers, Richie Havens, Merry Clayton, Raphael Saddiq, The Isley Brothers, Billy Preston, and many others offer songs from the magical first decade of Dylan's career.
