For the second year in a row Outside In's Guerilla Theatre youth have created films about issues that are important to them. Young filmmakers, who have experienced homelessness, participated in an intensive film internship in an effort to inspire and educate their peers and the community.
On this program, we will hear from Nili Yosha, Guerilla Theatre project lead at Outside In, and from Youth filmmakers Cantrelle and Travis.
This years films will show at a free premiere screening hosted by film director Todd Haynes at the Gerding Theatre at the Armory, 128 NW 11th Ave, in downtown Portland, on Monday, January 30th.
A reception, catered by Voodoo donuts, begins at 6:30 and the screening starts at 7pm.
Outside In helps homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency. Guerilla Theatre is a creative peer education program that facilitates internship opportunities in the arts and is part of CHAT pdx, a coalition dedicated to Curbing HIV/AIDS transmission among high-risk minority youth in partnership with the Cascade Aids Project. Films were made with support from Portland Youth Media.
