John Copp joins Abe and Joe to discuss Alaska's proposed Pebble Mine.
Alaska's proposed Pebble Mine is a textbook case of ecological health vs. economic gain. A rich vein of porphyry copper, gold, and molybdenum lies beneath Soutwest Alaska, and a multinational mining corporation wants to dig a hole two miles wide to get at it. Problem is, the mine would lie on Bristol Bay, through which passes about half the world's population of sockeye salmon.
Portland's John Copp, a former Bristol Bay fisherman, joins Abe and Joe to discuss the mine's prospective impact on the bay's ecosystem.
