KBOO is webcasting LIVE this Thursday from 8 – 10 pm for the Louis Armstrong Celebration:
On July 29, 1965, in 90+ degree heat, LOUIS ARMSTRONG &/> HIS ALL-STARS played two free concerts from the roof of the Lloyd Centre Shopping Mall in Portland.
Join us at the Fremont Theatre on August 10 for a celebration of the occasion and of the music, life and legacy of Louis Armstrong. Discover the Louis Armstrong you probably have never known – you’ll be amazed, thrilled, and filled with joy! Bring your questions on the music and the life on and off stage of jazz's greatest star!
We will chart the musical timeline beginning with the very first recording session in 1923 through to the later 'All-Stars' period of the 1950s and 60s, with commentary along the way.
The Fremont Theatre boasts a good bar with food as well, and a second floor balcony from which to get a great view or dance the night away.
The music starts at 8pm, presented by
The Cherry Blossom Orchestra :
