Now's the time to plan for cold weather--not the night before ; plus fall cleanup, medlars, and mint

Cold weather is surely on the way, and, in addition to not calling you Shirley, we need to take precautions in our gardens. Host Glen Andresen and guest Jim Gilbert will walk you through ways to protect your tenderer plants. Plus, what to do with that bumper crop of persimmons and medlars--Jim's got suggestions. And it's time for some fall cleanup, though not too clean. We still need to think of birds and other garden macro- and micro-critters!

As always, we'll answer your gardening questions, have a new Plant of the Month (mint), define our Dirtbag Dictionary words ("dormancy"), quiz you with a new Garden Stumper, and, maybe this will become a new "feature," what's annoying us this month!

The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
