Award-wining cartoonist Kevin Huizenga debuts his newest collection of dreamlike stories, "Glenn Ganges in: The River at Night"

Kevin Huizenga's comics don't hew to any typical narrative structure.  In self-published zines like Super Monster as well as award-winning graphic novels like Curses, Huizenga's long-suffering protagonist Glenn Ganges moves forward, backward, and sideways in time, grappling with scientific and philosophical musings and abstract flights of fancy.  In his latest collection The River at Night, Huizenga's art bends and folds around the page as the reader is taken on a labyrinthine journey through Ganges' consciousness during one long sleepless night.

During a visit to the Portland Book Festival, Kevin sat down with S.W. Conser to talk about his midwestern upbringing, his appreciation for old newspaper comics, and the inspirations he finds in physics and geology texts.
