PGE asks Utilities Commission for rate hike
Portland General Electric (PGE) is asking the Oregon Public Utilities Commission to approve a rate increase of seven point four percent that would begin in January 2011.
If approved, the increase would add over Six Dollars a month to the bill of the average customer.
P-G-E hopes to use the funds generated from the rate hike to re-license hydroelectric power facilities on the Clackamas River, and complete the next phase of its Bigelow Canyon wind farm in Sherman County.
Some of the costs will be offset by savings on wholesale power and fuel due to a decrease in projected fuel cost.
