Death row inmate exonerated
Oregon is one of thirty-five states that continue to execute prisoners found guilty of murder.
A number of states have put executions on hold after new methods of DNA analysis exonerated a number of people who had been found guilty of murder and scheduled for execution.
One of those recently exonerated was Juan Melendez-Cohen, who spent eighteen years on Florida’s death row.
He is currently on tour advocating for the abolition of the death penalty. He spoke last night in Portland:

More than two-thirds of the countries in the world have now abolished the death penalty in law or practice.
This includes every country in Europe and most of the Americas.
