Controversial Plan to Annex & Develop West Hayden Island

West Hayden Island, 800 acres of undeveloped land that currently serves priamarily used as natural habitat. Now the City of Portland is proposing to annex the property and develop 300 acres to expand the Port of Portland. Environmentalists like Bob Sallinger, of the Audubon Society of Portland have major problems with the proposal.

 There will be a public hearing on this issue Thursday, July 29th 6 pm at Portland City Hall.

In this news report Jacob Anderson-Minshall reports on the issue and speaks with both Sallinger and representatives of Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability
