It is a time-honored tradition for radio folk to spend some time at the end of the year to present music or other releases they deem their "favorites." Often, more insecure programmers call this "the best of" the year, although opinion is subjective & therefore no one can say what is "best." Here's an example:
PERSON ONE: This is the best album ever!
PERSON TWO: I don't like it.
PERSON ONE: Oh. Then it can't be the best, can it?
PERSON TWO: No, but it can be your favorite album in the world.
PERSON ONE: Why do I feel the need to talk that way?
PERSON TWO: Because of insecurity. It's all right to like what you want to like. It's not important for other people to like it, too.
PERSON ONE: It's nice, though.
PERSON TWO: Sure, but you pretending your opinion is the objective truth doesn't change anyone's mind.
PERSON ONE: This is a weird thing to have on a web page for a radio show, isn't it?
PERSON TWO: Yeah, who knows what's happening here.
In any event, this week Self Help Radio host Gary plays a lot of songs from his favorite releases of the year. That's all. No frill, just tunes. Perhaps there's something here you'll like, too.
