There is another opportunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Those born in the Year of the Tiger receive free admission to the Lan Su Chinese garden right now until April 2nd. From 10am to 5pm, families are invited to enjoy tiger tales, make tiger masks, play mahjong, try tai chi, and more. The Garden is featuring events such as demonstrations in flower arrangement, workshops in understanding and using aromatherapy and various lectures and tours. The Chinese Garden is located in downtown Portland at NW 3rd and Everett. For more information call 503.228.8131.

2010 will be the first US Census to allow same-sex couples to self-identify as either married or as unmarried partners. The Q Center has been designated an official Census Assistance Center, so stop in between 2 and 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until April 2nd and speak with a census representative about any questions. The Q Center is located at 4115 N Mississippi Avenue, or check out www.pdxqcenter.org.

The North-Northeast Economic Development Initiative Citizen Advisory Committee is having a public meeting to address increased funding for jobs, affordable housing, small businesses and livable neighborhoods in the Rose Quarter. This group will examine the Oregon Convention Center and Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Areas. You may follow this meeting on Twitter by searching for #NNEDI.
